she gets it from her momma

I love a good thrift.

I mean I really, really love a good thrift. Clothes, shoes, purses, Christmas decorations (who doesn’t have enough of those??)….you name it.
I swore to myself I would never turn out this way.

I was wrong.

I grew up with a mother who loved to go “thrifting.”  Often our Saturdays were spent at garage sales, flea markets, goodwill’s and second hand stores.
It wasn’t because we couldn’t afford the luxuries of shopping at the glamorous Vero Beach Mall (Psssh!)…because we could. It’s just my mother preferred the thrill of a good second hand Saturday. I would tag along and lose interest immediately after the first 10 minutes in each store. She warned me… “Just watch!- One day you will be like me ya know?”

“What?!?! No wayyy! I will only shop at the MALL where normal people shop Mommm!”

Look at me now.
I seriously go to Goodwill 3 maybe 4 times a week- no joke. Sometimes I think my car is on autopilot, because I just end up there after I get off work.
I practically furnished our entire townhome with awesome finds from Goodwill.  (Brendan received many a phone calls of…”Hey can you please come help me pick up this TV stand; end table; humongous mirror; bookshelf… at goodwill? I need help loading it into the car and I can’t walk away from it- or someone else is going to snag it!)

Not only do I like shopping at Goodwill, but I’m actually good at it! It has been said (by my best friend Katy) that I must have consignment angels watching over me because I always find exactly what I’m looking for! It’s like I set my mind to find some random article of clothing or household object…..and BAM- I find it! Hence Brendan’s $12.99 Superman costume that was just hanging on the racks waiting for me to arrive. REALLY?!? It’s like Goodwill KNEW that we were going to be superheroes this year. (I will have you know that the same exact Superman costume retails for $65 in those crazy Halloween City Stores.)

To me the possibilities are endless. Where else can I find a cute vintage party dress, Superman Halloween costume, cat scratching post and a brand new set of wine glasses that someone didn’t want?!?!

Get on the Goodwill train people!

**disclaimer* You must have patience for this place…. and there are your occasional weirdo’s… but if you can look past that, you might just find yourself something awesome!

Happy Thrifting! :)
